As God Sees

Today, I’m linking up with the Gypsy Mama for a Five Minute Friday. The prompt is See.

There are days when I battle insecurity. I look in the mirror and see a face that’s gained weight, a pointy nose, squinty eyes, blotchy skin, a bad haircut. My eyes turn inward, and I focus on the flaws. Temptation grows stronger, and soon I want to stop trying and withdraw.

At that moment temptation can easily turn to sin…

Romans 12:3 says, “Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”

We are to think of ourselves with sober judgment…there’s no humility in thinking too lowly of ourselves. In fact, it is a form of pride.

And so, on those days when I think it’s not worth it to try, I must put on the eyes of faith; I must look to see with God’s eyes. And when I do, He lifts me out of my self-consumption and sets my feet on solid rock. He values every detail of who I am, because I’m His handiwork. He made no mistakes in creating me. No, He fashioned me in His own image, and in His eyes He sees beauty.
